The Jim & Sarah Road Show
So I have a week or so off this summer, and Sarah and I have decided to take the little red bomb and go on a road trip! Our plans are fairly indefinite, but we are thinking that we will leave Monday, meander our way to the Rockies, down to Montana by Friday, do a little backpacking with Jonathan (Kaleo3), maybe see Kallee (Kaleo2) and then return through Washington. Sorry, Michelle - we have to be back here before you will arrive back in Banff!! But for the rest, if you are currently along that route and would like to see us, let me know and we will do our best. We can't think of anything we would rather do than see you! Also, if you have ideas of things we should see, places to stay overnight, etc., again let us know. Hope to see some of you soon!

Hello from Qwanoes
Hello all,
Just wanted to drop a quick little note on how things are going at Qwanoes. For myself, things are going great. I am definately figuring out how to organize myself and keep to a assigned schedule. The photographs are going great, its amazing how many wonderful opportunities God is providing for me to capture.
Kailyn is working really hard in Artrageous. This week it is Jr.'s week so she has a ton of crafts to do. They are making fun foam picture frames as well as foam door hangers. She also had a great idea of giving each cabin 500 popsicle sticks and they get to make whatever they want. Most of the time they make forts ;)
Kaitlyn is busy working at making special trips for me and getting me pit stick, haha. Ummm ya, I think she is enjoying her job...she'd probably be able to fill you in more then I can.
Well all for now, smell you all later!

Michelle's Reception
First of all, just in case this might be a complete surprise to some, our dear Michelle Earle is getting hitched in the next couple of days in the Dominican Republic!
She's having a wedding reception in Banff on August 9th and I'm wondering if anyone's going to be there for the celebration?!?!
Guesthouse girls...what you thinking?

Summer!
Long time no post!
Wow, somehow life just always seems to get bussy, in the best possible way, and all my great intensions of blogging or staying in touch stay as just that, intentions and never really get fufilled!
Ahhh but I'm not as bad at this as some.....as here I am blogging!
I have this amazing summer job at a mountain bike camp. I am a supervisor and have this great group of staff who are so great to work with. It's such a different experience working at a camp for kids with staff who aren't Christians. Like trying to motivate staff to serve the kids, or persevere thru the rain (liike today) with out using Jesus or prayer! But it's really so great, I'm learning and loving it!
I've never not been at Qwanoes for a summer and it's so great to have free time to do summer things, BBQ'S, Boating, Biking, Camping all this stuff, so much fun! Ohhh and Julie came out last weekend to teach the "in the Light" Dryme to the summer missions team. I've been helping teach them skits but I had to bring the professional in to teach them the dryme........THANKS Julie!
Anywase that's what's up in Ladner right now! You are all welcome to come and visit!!!!!!!
What's everyone else doing this summer, how's qwanoes going everyone who's there? How about every one els's non-summer jobs??
Miss you guys, when can we have a reunion?

Quick Update
So the social workers came, and it was a pretty tough day. And that night was a very tough night for the kids involved. I can't tell you how much I hate that, nor how much hatred I have for the person who is doing this to them.
Tomorrow the social worker is meeting with the parents, so if you could pray that the outcome will ultimately be positive (whatever the outcome is) and that things don't get any worse for the kids, that would be wonderful. I'm still pretty scared for them. Please pray for healing in this family, whatever shape that might take. Someone really needs to show these kids some real love, and let them know how much they're worth. Thanks for supporting me in this.

Why?
Sorry I have not posted anything for a long time, although I do read everything that is posted to try to keep track of all of you and pray for you as well.
I do need your prayers right now though. Yesterday afternoon I woke up from a nap after work to policemen banging on my door to tell me that one of my closest friends, Ben, had been biking in Langley and was struck by a car and did not survive. Ben was with me in Africa (he worked in Rwanda while I was in Uganda), and we spent a couple of months travelling together with 2 other friends. When he came back to BC he lived at my parents house for a few months until I got home. Long story short the police found our address through his license and thought we might be the family and I was the first person that found out what had happened.
Please pray. His parents are in Ontario and his sister Colleen (a very close friend of mine as well) is in Calgary and everyone is in a lot of shock. This morning I was actually supposed to drive to Calgary to visit Colleen and her husband for the weekend.
Fortunately Ben is with Jesus right now, and is maybe even hanging out with Britt. I feel fortunate that I was able to spend a lot of time with him these last couple of weeks. I would really appreciate all of your prayers.
Thanks,
Lisa

Please please pray!
Hey guys...so I'm having a rough day and I really didn't know where to turn but to you guys for prayer.
In a few minutes I have an emergency meeting with a social worker and a couple of kids...and I'm terrified. The ramifications of all this could be huge, and for the time being will likely be more negative than positive. I'm really scared that the steps I'm taking to keep these kids safe will end up making things worse for them, but I know that keeping silent is not an option. I'm really really terrified though. I haven't felt fear like this in a very very long time.
Please pray for the meeting, for the family, and especially for the kids. I don't know what their reaction will be to this meeting, but I know it won't be good, and I don't want to be responsible for anything happening to them. Please please pray. I'm so scared.

I admonish you...
...TO POST!
Yes, yes, I'm a hypocrite. One of those people who regularly checks the Blog and once in a blue moon posts something myself. But Kristi inspired me (or maybe it's just cause I'm at home sick and procrastinating work) that I decided to post, and I hope a bunch of the rest of you will let us in on your lives too!
So where to begin?
In April I graduated from the two year Creative Communications program at Red River College. So it felt good to be finished that and have the rest of my life before me but after some job hunting I've decided to head back for two more years of school to get a Bachelors of Communication from the University of Winnipeg.
In May I began work at three CHUM radio stations here in Winnipeg. I love the job which includes throwing a huge backyard BBQ at a listeners house every Thursday night (which means I don't have to think about supper!) the chance to get on-air experience, and all the perks of free CD's, movie passes, and concert tickets! And for the guesthouse girls that appreciated the Dixie Chicks, I’ll think of you all on August 19th!
In June James moved to Winnipeg. I'll be honest, I was a little nervous as to how I would adjust to what seemed like a huge step forward in our relationship but it's actually been amazing! As soon as I gave up my fears and worries to God (which is something I have to do again and again) I could see God's faithfulness in our relationship and the incredible blessing James' friendship is.
And that brings us to the present...the beginning of Summer. I’m not really too sure what the next couple of months will bring but guaranteed it will include a few good sunburns!
I would love to hear from all of you in the Kaleo family, and for those of you who do post thank-you!
Kaitie, Kailyn, and Jordan – Let us know how camp is going! And Kaitie you’ve got the dream job in my opinion! Well actually you all kind of struck gold with the job descriptions. Minus maybe having to deal with rats Kailyn. You’re a tough girl!
Dotto – What’s this...you have time to post while you’re on vacation in New Zealand but not now that you’re back at home! Ah well...I appreciated your regular updates and stories and would love to hear about your summer thus far!
Pam – If you read this I’m praying for you and your team in Vietnam and can’t wait to see pictures and hear your stories once you’re back.
Amber – Winnipeg isn’t far and you’re always welcome! Love and prayers my dear. I’m proud of you for hanging in there!
Julie – Wow it’s been a while! It doesn’t feel that way though thanks to your blog. I hope you have an amazing summer back in Vancouver and you’ll have my prayers as you take on a lot of responsibility and tackle challenges I’m sure.
Kristi – Wow! More nieces/nephews on the way! Congrats! I’ve been lucky enough to keep my wisdom teeth in tact but I can definitely identify with your fear of needles. I’ll be thinking and praying for you this Friday. Keep us posted!
Bev/Ashley – What you ladies up to?
Michelle – You’re getting married! I guess I probably don’t need to tell you that though. Let me know if you’re still planning on celebrating in Banff so I can come!
Colin – Thanks for being so honest with us and shedding some light on the life of a tree planter. It sounds incredibly difficulty in all respects but admirable that you’re hanging in there and looking to God for strength. Praise God for people who can support you when the going gets tough! I’ll be praying for you and your family Colin. Hang in there and don’t give up!
Ty – Happy Birthday today!!! Hope you have a good one!
Jamie – I think you’re due for a visit to Manitoba! And if you need more persuading you should see the new skatepark that just opened at the Forks! It is INCREDIBLE! And you can bmx at it. They’re saying it’s #1 in Canada at the moment.
Jon – So you are moving?!?!
Dave/Jordan C./Andre/Aaron – All Missing In Action! Would love to hear from you guys!
And after all of that I’ll feel really bad if I forgot someone! If I did it wasn’t intentional (obviously) and I’ll blame it on my stuffed up head.
I miss you all! And contrary to popular belief Manitoba is a nice place to visit...you’re always welcome!
Love and prayers,
Julia
