It's been 2 years....

It seems that I around this time, I remember Brittany for who she was in all of our lives. I know that God had a bigger plan for Brittany and I am thankful that she was a part of my life and everyone else's for such a short time. We were all touched by Brittany and at times through the year I remember her love for others and try to do the same.
Today I have been thinking and praying about the Fehr family and their loss. It hurts me to think that such an amazing family could lose so much in just a few minutes. I come to think about her new niece that will never be able to meet her amazing auntie until heaven.

I am thinking of you all today and just wanted to let you know that I love you so much and am greatful for all of you!

Your sister,
Kristi

Freedom...

Hey Kaleo
I just wanted to let you know how YQ '07 went this past weekend. First of all, it was the best YQ that I have ever been to and been apart of it. There was so much positive feedback from the changes that were made to YQ.
I experienced true freedom this past weekend. That was actually one of the main topic that was talked about in all the sessions and concerts over the weekend. Every guest who came this past weekend were all on the same page and wanted something more and deeper. This wasn't a surface weekend. It was about going deep and finding kids and students where they were with God and with their lives. God's freedom, love and grace were poured into the lives of the kids and I had the eyes to see it. I had many conversations with people about this weekend and just letting me know what we did at YQ '07 was something so amazing and something that needed to happen. The people who came to YQ were different than previous years - they all were looking for something more than what they had.
I was talking to Jimmy Needham and his wife, one of our guests, and I was interuppted by someone saying there was someone who wanted to talk to someone on the YQ team and I was truly blessed to be there at the right time. This was a youth leader who just wanted to let me know that her group that was here, of 8 people, re-pledged their life to Christ. That was something that God allowed me to see. People were open to God speaking in thier life.
There were so many stories that I have heard over the weekend that were truly God. I am so excited about all the seeds that were planted this weekend. I know that I won't see all the fruit out of this weekend, but thats ok.
There are so many stories from this past weekend, like Jordan C was out here for YQ even though he was here the previous weekend and Kaleo 1 - 4 were able to hang out, even though I didn't have the time to talk to everyone, but I was blessed that we could all be together. There were countless conversations that I had with people about this past weekend.
GOD was here this past weekend, pouring His love onto us and I can't help smile when I talk about it. God is so good.
So if you want to hear any other stories, just let me know and we can talk. I would love to share with you all more stories and how my life has been affected by it.
I love ya all and I will be thinking about all of you tomorrow.

Good news!

I just wanted to share the excitement with everyone that I have officially been accepted into the Elementary Education program at UVic! I'm extremely excited, and I absolutely can't wait to get into the classroom! It's so fun to finally see a life-long goal becoming (slowly) fulfilled.

Cross-Canada Wedding Road Trip!

Ok, so maybe it's not all the way across Canada, but is anyone living between Victoria and Winnipeg interested in taking part in a road trip out to Julia and James' wedding this summer? Anyone interested in being visited, even if they can't come along for the ride? I know Amber and I are starting to think about possibilities, so if anyone else wants to get in on the planning, let us know. We may even be able to get a whole caravan together!

Calling the Called to Call

Believe it or not, we already have a number of Kaleo Five students in place - people who in some cases were born in 1989 (next year it will be the 90's!!). At the same time that we are blessed out of our socks every day by Kaleo Four, we are already feeling blessed by Kaleo Five as we get to know them long distance. Our prayer is that God will continue to pull them from every walk of life to come together as a new Kaleo community.

However, Briercrest tells us that although we have accepted the same number of people as last year at this time, the number of applications coming through the system are much lower than usual. This seems to be a difficulty shared by Bible Colleges across Canada right now. In fact, if you are listening to one of the few Christian radio stations that can be heard in Canada, you might find an ad inviting people to check out a program called Kaleo.

But I know that the very best way for people to have opportunity to check out the Kaleo option is through the people who have already been there. We would like to ask you to pray and consider who in your world God may be calling to Kaleo, and whether his call might come through you. If anyone you know needs Kaleo information, please ask them to call us, or direct them to the Kaleo website.

Thanks for your continuing support and prayer for the growing Kaleo community! I would love to hear from you and get an update on where you are, what you are doing and what God is up to in your life. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey just need some prayer

So it is after midnight and I am preparing for an early flight home. My grandma with whom I am very close, in the past week caught some unknown virus in Cuba and her health has progressively declined. I am just asking for prayer as I fly home to Toronto from Winnipeg, my brother from Kaleo, and my dad from Kenya. Thanks.

Save This Date...

Hey Everyone,

It's still so hard to believe that James and I are actually getting married...so wierd, but don't get me wrong, super exciting too! I just wanted to let you know that we've decided on a date and place which feels like the big stuff. The wedding is going to be Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Cherry Hill Estates (about 45 minutes southeast of Winnipeg close to a smaller "city" called Steinbach). There's a renovated barn - now restaurant - lots of trees, lake, and fresh country air! We're going to do the ceremony outside (praying for good weather) and the reception in a tent. So that's where we're at. We obviously haven't thought about invitations yet but you're all offically invited and we'd love for you to come! There is camping available for our guests at Cherry Hill if you're so inclined or we'd gladly offer one of our homes for you to stay at! I would love to catch with all of you soon as it feels like it's been so long. Hope everyone is happy, healthy and staying warm...it's -44 degrees here in Winnipeg and James and I are just about to embark on a winter hike!
